Just to set fears to rest across this great internet, let me say that I believe whole-heartedly in the inerrancy of scripture (including the Pauline epistles, Genesis and the whole traditional canon). I am concerned that the default position of most evangelicals is to do the opposite of what happens with the Clockwork Jesus in the book... they tend toward highly Pauline descriptions of salvation, and ignore the ways that Jesus talks about salvation. Which can lead to a Christianity based on creed alone, without the active following that Jesus (and, yes, Paul) expect. I just wanted to shock people into thinking about what it looks like to look at Jesus's descriptions of salvation the way the earliest followers did....
Anyway, great review and thanks so much for taking the time to read it and share your thoughts!
